Come to Our Earth Day Party, April 19–20

| Join us at the Prospect Park Zoo to celebrate Earth Day. Meet Riley the baby kangaroo and chat with her keepers, learn how to give your kitchen scraps a second life at our worm composting station, see the National Geographic Special Eden at the End of the World, and get a front-row view and feel of our animal ambassadors during Animal Encounters.
Schedule of Events
Posting It Up Earthy, dark, and crumbly compost material has a variety of uses. Discover how you can give your kitchen scraps a second life at the Zoo’s worm composting station. Location: Sea Lion Court Time: Noon–4:00 p.m.
Animal Encounters Meet alpacas, owls, iguanas, and other animal ambassadors at our new education program, hosted by zookeepers. Location: Discovery Theater Times: Noon, 12:30, 2:30, & 3:00 p.m.
Keeper Chats Visit the Discovery Trail to chat with zookeepers about Riley the baby ’roo, and stop by In Living Color to chat about saki monkeys Opus and Winola. Times: Kangaroo chat at 11:00 a.m.; Monkey talk at 3:00 p.m.
Craft Make an Earth Day button to take home as a souvenir. Location: Animals in Art Time: 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Film Screening See the National Geographic Special Eden at the End of the World about the wildlife of Patagonia and the work of WCS to protect this threatened wilderness. Location: Education Classroom Times: 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
Presentation Watch “The Adventures of the Puerto Rican Crested Toad” and meet the stars of the presentation—the toads themselves! Location: Discovery Theater Times: 1:30 & 3:30 p.m.
Games Play our wildlife games and enjoy other kid-friendly activities. Time: 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Location: Discovery Center
