Regal Kitties at the Prospect Park Zoo
They may look like the fattest felines you’ve ever seen, but the Prospect Park Zoo’s new pair of Pallas cats, Nicholas and Alexandra, aren’t full on lasagna—they’re built for the chilly climate of central Asia.
Meet the Pallas pair.

Come to Our Earth Day Party, April 19–20
During this festive weekend event, chat with saki monkey and kangaroo keepers, stop by our worm composting station, see the National Geographic Special Eden at the End of the World, and get a front-row view of our animal ambassadors during Live Animal Encounters.

Enjoy Animal Encounters at the Discovery Theater
Alpacas, owls, iguanas, and a certain precocious porcupine will star in the Zoo’s summer blockbuster, Animal Encounters. “Previews” have begun on weekends at noon, 12:30, 2:30, and 3:00 p.m.
Meet our prickly pupil in training, Brody.

  Romance in the Rainforest
They may swing, but don’t call them swingers. Mates for life, Opus and Winola, the Zoo’s new saki monkeys, exchange long looks and mutual grooming in the rainforest.
Opus and Winola share a mushy moment.

2008 Is the Year of the Frog
Honor frog-kind’s mighty leapers and masters of disguise! Visit our poison dart and smoky jungle frogs, stop by the Discovery Center for frog-themed fun, and help WCS spread the word about threatened amphibians around the world.
 Meet our croakers and peepers.

Celebrate the Year of the Frog on Leap Day Weekend
On February 29 through March 2, hop along a scavenger hunt trail, make your own frog mask, and chat with a zookeeper about poison dart and smoky jungle frogs. Learn how the Wildlife Conservation Society is working to protect endangered amphibians.

Baby kangaroo peeking out of its mother’s pouch -   Jumping Joey on Discovery Trail
Hop along to the Prospect Park Zoo, where a big-eyed, big-eared baby kangaroo is beginning to explore the world outside its mother’s pouch. You can see the joey and its kin daily along Discovery Trail.
Watch the joey stand on two feet, and take its first hops!

At the Zoo: Big Hair from Brazil
Now on mane display: golden lion tamarins! Come visit these tiny, bright-orange haired monkeys at the Prospect Park Zoo’s Animal Lifestyles exhibit. The new residents are part of a very rare species of Brazilian primates.

Help Wanted: Seeking Prospect Park Zoo Volunteers!
Connect with the community and share your love of animals by volunteering at the Prospect Park Zoo. The Zoo is seeking volunteers to staff exhibit areas, give tours, and assist with special events.

From talking crows to high-flying hawks, the Zoo’s 12 acres are a birdwatcher’s haven. Come admire our newest winged wonders, including peacocks and cockatoos, and say “Hi” to Sammy the fishing crow, who may answer you back!
No need for binoculars to view our birder’s slideshow!

Red-tailed hawk - ©WCS   New Roost for Red-Tails
It’s a sad story with a very happy ending. Red-tailed hawks Manipi and Seneca were rescued but had injuries that would make it impossible for them to remain in the wild. Now, these two magnificent raptors are on exhibit in the Zoo’s Discovery Trail.

  Away on Monkey Business:
A Zookeeper’s Adventures in Belize

Together with a small group of her colleagues from the Wildlife Conservation Society, Prospect Park Zoo keeper Crystal DiMiceli traveled to region’s Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary on a monkey mission. The group found good news, and lots of noise, attesting to a growing howler monkey population.

Discovery Trail: A Feast for the Senses!
Hop like a kangaroo, crawl like a turtle, and scurry underground like a prairie dog along the Prospect Park Zoo’s Discovery Trail. There’s a lot to explore for children who like to keep their eyes peeled, their ears perked, and their feet busy!

Rain Forest Romeos and Paired-up Pandas
Love is always in the air at the Prospect Park Zoo, where our animals don’t save the romance just for holidays! Many share their lives with a special someone. Arrange your next zoo date to meet our mates.
